The Samsung Galaxy S6 was never going to be cheap, but with rumours of no 32GB version and with a curved edge variant also on offer, it was looking likely to be the most expensive handset Samsung has yet created. Now we've had a leak of the prices, and it looks like things aren't going to be so bad after all.
For starters it looks like there will be a 32GB version of the handset, along with the expected 64GB and 128GB models, good news if you just want a basic phone. Pricing for these will be 749, 849 and 949 Euros respectively. In the UK that will roughly equate to £567, £643 or £718 - which is pretty much the same as the official prices from the Galaxy S5.
If the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge has turned your head, then the Edge version of the Galaxy S6 is probably the phone for you, with its curved-off screen. Prices for this are rumoured to be a relative step up from the standard S6, with each version costing the same as the next storage model up, ie/ a 32GB S6 Edge is the same price as a 64GB S6. So we have 849, 949 and 1,049 Euros, equating roughly to £643, £718 or £794.
The price leak came from Android Pit, and was attributed to a 'trusted source close to the matter'. Now, that's not much to go and rumours such as this always circulate before launch. However, with the phone only a month from launch, see Samsung Galaxy S6 set to be unveiled on 1 March, Samsung must have started discussing pricing with the retailers and distributors it relies upon to actually sell the phones.
