Apple is broadcasting its 'Spring Forward' special event live online for those that can't make it

We already know a fair amount about the Apple Watch, given that it was unveiled alongside the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus last year. While we learned a lot about the device's hardware and specs, we didn't really learn a lot about how it work or how apps would work. For that, we've got Apple's Spring Forward Special Event, which is taking place on the 9th March 2015.

For anyone that wants to see the launch live, Apple is providing a Spring Forward live stream on its website. As is usual for this kind of stream, some artificial restrictions have been put in place, so you can only watch on a Mac running OS X 10.6.8 or later with Safari 5.1.10 or later, an iPhone or iPad with iOS 6 or later (again, Safari only), or a second- or third-generation Apple TV running version 6.2 or later. PC and Android users will not be able to connect to the event using a web browser, although once it starts and the stream URL is found out, VLC users can usually join in; there's no guarantee that this will work well, though.

Alongside the Apple Watch, we expect to see a few big-name apps launching, with Apple giving a fuller demonstration of how the watch will interact with the iPhone. We'll also discover a final release date (we expect it to ship in April), and final pricing.

There are also rumours that Apple will use the event to bring some new hardware, including the much-desired Retina MacBook Air. There's no guarantee of that, though, and it remains to be seen if Apple will just want to focus on the Watch, which is both a brand new product for it and, potentially, a big gamble.

We'll be covering the event live, so follow us on @expertreviewsuk and come back to get the full information from the launch.
