The Samsung monitor that wirelessly charges your smartphone

Innovations in desktop monitors are few and far between, but Samsung's SE370 screens have a novel feature. The monitors' base include a wireless charging point, letting users top up their smartphone whilst they're sat in front of their PC.

The SE370 monitors can charge smartphones that use the Qi standard, including the Samsung Galaxy S6, and many of the premium handsets in the Nokia Lumia range. Users can charge their phone simply by placing it on the monitor's base, which is particularly handy in an office environment. An LED built into the base lets you know the phone is receiving a charge, turning from red to green when the battery is topped up.

The SE370 comes in 24in (S24E370DL) and 27in (S27E370DS) models, both of which are Full HD screens. They both offer 178 degree viewing angles, although the larger model offers better brightness, hitting a maximum of 300cd/m2, compared to the smaller screen's 250cdm/2.

Both models offer support for AMD's FreeSync technology, which claims to reduce stutter and screen tearing during games by perfectly synchronising the screen refresh rate with the current frame rate being output by an AMD graphics card.

The monitor also includes a so-called "eye-saver mode", which apparently "reduces the harmful effects of blue light on viewers' eyes and associated eye strain by monitoring and optimising picture quality to match specific environmental settings".

Samsung has yet to release pricing or a launch date for the screens.
