Motorola has unveiled not one, not two, but three new smartphones today, introducing a new Moto G and two new Moto X handsets to its range of budget and flagship smartphones.
Unveiled earlier today in London, the 3rd Gen Moto G has the same 5in 1,280x720 resolution display as its 2nd Gen predecessor, but it now runs on a quad-core 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor, the same chipset inside the 2nd Gen Moto E.

This comes as a slight disappointment after the incredible Vodafone Smart Ultra 6, but Motorola is hoping the rear camera will help the 3rd Gen Moto G reclaim the crown for best budget smartphone. For starters, it's increased the rear camera sensor to 13-megapixels, and actually uses the same sensor as Motorola's Nexus 6. It's introduced a number of key improvements, though, including an enhanced lens system to improve the amount of light it captures, an IR filter to help reduce glare and a colour-balancing LED flash to produce more accurate skin tones and colour reproduction. Meanwhile, the camera on the front has a 5-megapixel sensor.

Previous rumours were right on the money when it comes to the Moto G's waterproofing as well. Rated IPX7, it can handle up to 1m of water for up to 30 minutes. Motorola made a big push for improved battery life at its press event today, and the 3rd Gen Moto G's 2,470mAh battery should be able to last a full 24 hours under mixed usage conditions. It also comes with either 8GB or 16GB of storage, but you can always expand this with a microSD card up to 32GB if necessary.
As previously speculated, Moto Maker is coming to the 3rd Gen Moto G. While the front will be available in either white or black, you'll be able to choose from a range of different colours for the rear panel. It also has a new metallic accent round the camera and a brand new soft grip texture on the back. You'll still be able to buy Motorola shells to give you phone a bit of extra protection, though, all in a range of bright, vibrant colours. The 3rd Gen Moto G goes on sale today for £159, or £179 for a Moto Maker version.
Moto X Style
Motorola has unveiled its latest entries in its flagship phone range, the Moto X Style and Moto X Play. First up is the Moto X Style, Motorola's new flagship for 2015. With a 5.7in 2,560x,1440 resolution display, it's a big step up from the current 2nd Gen Moto X. It also has a hexa-core 1.8GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chipset – the same chipset inside the LG G4– and 3GB of RAM.

Motorola also went big on battery life for its new range of phones, and the Moto X Style supports Motorola's brand new Turbo Power feature, making it the world's fastest charging phone, according to Motorola. Compared to the Samsung Galaxy S6, for instance, the Moto X Style can charge up to 50% faster and has 10 hours more battery. Otherwise, its 3,000mAh battery has a 30 hour battery life based on mixed usage. It comes with 16GB, 32GB and 64GB of storage, but has a microSD card slot that supports cards up to 128GB.
Moto X Play
The Moto X Play is effectively a 'lite' version of the Moto X Style. It has a 5.5in Full HD display and is powered by an octa-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor and has 2GB of RAM. Motorola also claims its huge 3,630mAh battery will be able to last for up to 48 hours of mixed use, and has 42% more battery than the Samsung Galaxy S6. It also supports Motorola's new Turbo Charge feature, giving you 8 hours of battery life in just 15 minutes.
The Moto X Play has the same 21-megapixel camera as the Moto X Style along with the dual LED colour balancing flash, and a 5-megapixel front facing camera. It comes with either 16GB or 32GB of storage, but there's also a microSD card slot that can take cards up to 128GB.
Like the 2nd Gen Moto X, both the Moto X Play and Moto X Style can be customised through Motorola's Moto Maker service, with a range of customer replaceable back panels, metallic accents and real leather or smooth wood rears.
The Moto X Style will go on sale in the UK in September for £359, while the Moto X Play will be arriving in August for £279.
