There's no shortage of Bluetooth speakers in existence. Similarly, you won't struggle to find multiroom speakers that can play music from Spotify Connect or internet radio stations. There aren't, however, many that combine Bluetooth, Spotify Connect, internet radio and DAB digital radio all in one package. Pure's Evoke range manages to do just this, and the British audio firm has just announced a new entry in the form of the Evoke F3.
The classy-looking table top radio has a 2.4in TFT display for navigating through the multitude of radio stations available, whether on the internet, through DAB or over the FM radio signals. When we reviewed the Evoke F4 we found the menu system a little clunky, so here's hoping it's been improved on the newest entry. The good thing is that the Evoke F3 is therefore futureproof in preparation for the digital radio switchover, too (whenever it actually happens). Next year will see the biggest commercial radio expansion ever in the UK, courtesy of a second national digital radio multiplex, which is great news for those still fond of listening to the radio.
There are over 25,000 stations available worldwide and around 270,000 podcast episodes, so you shouldn't be short of content. That's ignoring any music or audio you play from your Bluetooth connected device or music via Spotify Connect. A remote control is included to make navigation completely convenient.
I've always liked the sound from Pure's speakers, especially from the multiroom T4 but also the portable Bluetooth Voca, so was pleased to hear the speaker cabinet is made from real wood, which should help with acoustic performance. The cabinet comes in a matt black finish, which might not be quite as exciting as some of Pure's other designs but is still certainly stylish. The Evoke F3 will have an RRP of £130.
