Motorola has just announced that its Moto 360 Sport smartwatch will be coming to the UK on 18th December for £219, and it will be available to buy from both Motorola and Amazon. It's the same basic smartwatch as Motorola's 2nd Gen Moto 360, but the Sport comes with a sweat-friendly silicone band rather than leather or metal and built-in GPS.

This means you can now go for a run without taking your smartphone with you, as the Moto Body app will track everything from the distance you run, your pace, how many laps you do and more. However, it also supports MapMyRun, Under Armour Record, Strava and Fitbit.

The Moto 360 Sport is also a slightly different size to the 2nd Gen Moto 360, as the Sport has a 45mm diameter and measures 11.5mm high - 1mm more than the non-Sport version. Sadly, there's no women's option, so ladies will have to make do with the slightly larger smartwatch to help keep track of their health and fitness.

To help keep the display visible outside, the Moto 360 Sport uses Motorola's AnyLight technology to help you see the screen clearly regardless of lighting condition. According to Motorola, it's the world's first hybrid display that can act like a normal LCD screen indoors, but reflect natural sunlight when you step outside.

Otherwise, it shares an identical specification. It has a 1.37in or 35mm round display (complete with its usual ambient light sensor bar along the bottom curve) and has a resolution of 360x325, and it's powered by a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor and 512MB of RAM. It has 4GB of storage and has support for Bluetooth 4.0 and Wi-Fi 802.11b/g. There's also a barometer, accelerometer, gyroscope, and optical heart rate monitor on board, and it has a dust and water resistance rating of IP67. Sadly, that doesn't mean it's completely waterproof, but you should be able to immerse it in fresh water up to 1m for 30 minutes without causing damage.

The Moto 360 Sport has a 300mAh battery, which Motorola says should last up to a full day of mixed use with the ambient light sensor turned on. It also comes with a wireless charging dock in the box.

We really liked the 2nd Gen Moto 360, so we have high hopes for the Sport version as well. We'll bring you our full verdict as soon as we get hold of a review sample.
