Nokia went all out with phone releases at MWC 2017, where the Finnish company launched its Nokia 3, 5, 6 and 3310 phones to the market. Despite the company’s large list of phones, there was one that got away, the Nokia 8.

The flagship phone will run on Android, is expected to come with a high-end Zeiss camera lens, an octa-core processor with a Snapdragon 835 chipset and have a fingerprint sensor. Current rumours suggest the flagship smartphone will run on Android and will come out in June 2017.

Nokia 8 UK release date rumours: When will the Nokia 8 be released?

Based on rumours and release dates of flagship phones from around the web, we expect the phone to come out in June 2017. Although, Nokia might decide to release it later in the year. As soon as we hear more from HMD, the company that took over Nokia, we’ll be sure to update this article.

Nokia 8 UK price rumours: How much will the Nokia 8 cost?

The Indian website recently published an expected price of the N8. The leak suggested the new phone will cost Rs. 41,999 - a direct conversion into sterling would put the N8’s UK price at around £550. The problem is that at this end of the market, there are lots of devices. If Nokia truly wants to draw attention to its flagship device, we’d expect a cheaper price; only time will tell.

The handset could also come in two different storage sizes, resulting in two different price tags. A few smartphone vendors offer different storage sizes and given the Nokia 8 will be the Finnish company’s flagship device, we could see two variants of the phone.

Nokia 8 design and display rumours: How will the Nokia 8 look?

Based on the Nokia 5 and 6, we expect the Nokia 8 to be a full-metal-bodied smartphone. This is, of course, purely based on speculation, but we’d be surprised to see the flagship phone come with a plastic design considering Nokia’s recent form.

The phone is rumoured to have a 5.7in screen, which means it will be the largest phone out of the new Nokia phones. The screen is rumoured to be a Quad HD (1,440 x 2,560) IPS display, which will result in a 515ppi pixel density; on par with other devices that have the same resolution screen, such as the Google Nexus 6P.

Based on the design of the Nokia 5 and 6, we expect it to have rounded edges, a USB 3.1 Type-C charging and data port and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Being a high-end phone, we also expect to see a fingerprint reader integrated in its front-capacitive button, as found on the Nokia 6.

Under Microsoft, Nokia released a few Lumia devices with a protruding camera. Despite being rumoured with a Zeiss lens, current trends suggest to us that phones with a noticeable camera bump are unfavourable. Thus, we can’t see the Finnish company going back to its old Lumia design, but still featuring a Zeiss lens, as Nokia did with the Nokia Lumia 920.

Nokia 8 camera rumours: What camera will the Nokia 8 have?

Since its Lumia range, Nokia has been known for its superb camera quality. Carl Zeiss lenses are highly respected within the camera industry, and given Nokia’s history with Zeiss, it wouldn’t be too far-fetched to think that the new Nokia 8 will feature a non-protruding Zeiss lens.

We wouldn't be surprised to see Nokia include a 24-megapixel camera, which according to GSMArena, will have phase-detection autofocus, dual-LED flash and have the ability to record video at 2160p at 30fps and 1080p at 60fps.

A huge 12-megapixel front-facing camera can also be expected, which will make it an unbelievable good phone for selfies.

We’re keeping our eyes peeled at rumours, and we’ll be sure to update this article with any new information, as and when it becomes available.

Nokia 8 specs rumours: What are the Nokia 8 specifications?

Other than what we’ve talked about, the phone is could come with an octa-core (four 2.45GHz Kryo and four 1.9GHz Kryo) processor running on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 chipset. With the rumoured 6GB of RAM that is to be included, we’re looking at a phone that will give all current flagship phones a run for their money.

The Nokia 8 is expected to compete with the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S8, LG G6 and Huawei P10 smartphones, and it won’t be a slouch when it comes to gaming either, with its rumoured Adreno 540 GPU, as found on the Sony Xperia XZ Premium.

Aside from its CPU, chipset and GPU, we expect it to come in either 64 or 128GB storage sizes, with the option to expand it a further 256GB through its microSD expansion slot (using SIM slot 2). The Nokia 8 is also rumoured to be a dual-SIM 4G smartphone.

We expect to see a non-removable lithium-ion 3,200mAh battery included, plus Qualcomm’s fast-charging capabilities, with a full charge possible in less than 45 minutes.

^Pictured above is the Nokia 5 and 6.

The Nokia 8 will run on Android 7.1.1 Nougat, Google’s latest and greatest mobile operating system. Given its Nokia 6 already runs on v7.1.1, it’s highly likely that the flagship Nokia 8 will also feature Android Nougat out of the box.

We don’t see the phone to be water-resistant or have dual front-facing stereo speakers, as no other Nokia phones in the past have had this functionality.

Let us know in the comments below what you expect and what you’d like to see included on Nokia’s flagship smartphone.
