Lenovo showed off a wealth of new tech products during IFA 2018, including laptops, Yoga Books smart home tech and a new Motorola phone. Out of all its devices, Lenovo is most proud of the new Yoga C930 laptop – and quite rightly so. In fact, we gave the Lenovo Yoga C930 a Best of IFA 2018 award as recognition for its stunning design and truly impressive entertainment features in the form of Dolby Atmos and Vision.

Lenovo Yoga C930 (2018) review: Design, key features and first impressions
As with previous Yoga laptops from Lenovo, the Yoga C930 is a 2-in-1 hybrid that doubles up as a tablet with its capacitive touchscreen. The hinge between the screen and the keyboard allows you to rotate the display back on itself so that it can lie flat, stand up in a tent position, or fold back completely for screen-only use. There’s a bundled stylus which can be used instead of your grubby fingers, and it now slots discreetly behind the keyboard when not in use.
One of the neatest features of the Lenovo Yoga is its Dolby Atmos soundbar, which doubles as the laptop’s rotating hinge, ensuring that the speaker system is always facing the user no matter what position the Yoga is folded. The soundbar produces 3D audio and it sounds great, delivering exceptional clarity and volume for such a slim speaker. Even at the crowded showcase event for the Yoga, I could hear subtle notes and feel the strength of the bass.
Its impressive audio technology is partnered with Dolby Vision support on the laptop’s 4K (3,840 x 2,160) resolution display. Video looked punchy and packed with detail during my brief demonstration, and I expect the new Yoga will be perfect for Netflix and Amazon Video buffs who watch a lot of content on the go.
For the C930, Lenovo has ‘Invented’ a new colour, Mica, a sort of shiny off-white, and it’s also available in Iron Grey as well as a limited glass cover edition. The sleek aluminium chassis gives the new Yoga a sturdy feel, however, at 1.7kg it is also a surprisingly lightweight 2-in-1 device.
Once available, the Lenovo Yoga C930 will come in a range of different configurations, although no prices have been set so far. The most expensive premium model will come with an 8th generation Intel Core i7 processor, Intel HD 620 GPU, 16GB RAM and 2TB of storage. Cheaper versions won’t get the 4K experience; instead of the 3,840 x 2,160 resolution on the premium configuration setup, some models will have just 1,920 x 1,080.

There’s no official UK release date or pricing information on the Lenovo Yoga C930 yet, but it’s shaping up to be one of the most impressive laptops of the year – and yes, it should be out before the end of 2018, November at the latest.
For fans of the 2-in-1 laptop setup, the Yoga C930 seems to be the full package, offering the ultimate in visual and audio entertainment coupled with supreme speed and power. And then there’s the bundled pen, which means you can go straight into tablet mode whenever, wherever. I look forward to putting the Yoga C930’s robust specs to the test as soon as review models become available.
