Following on from Apple's much-publicised, and much overblown, issues with its new, larger iPhone 6 Plus handset, Samsung has decided to put consumer's minds at ease by releasing a video that shows how resistant the new Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is to being bent. A video starring a mechanical rear end.
The video isn't overly serious, with a rather comic animated intro. Then using a three-point test, where the ends of the phone are gripped while the centre is pushed down the Note 4 bends when exposed to a force that would break three pencils. Next Samsug shows us a sit test, where a faux rear end eases itself down on teh phone repeatedly, apparently recreating a 100kg man sitting on the phone.
Peronally we'd rather have seen it pocketed and then sat on repeastedly by a real person of obvious heft wearing a pair of overly tight jeans, preferably on a hard surface such as polished concrete. However, it wouldn't be a terribly scientific admittedly.
We've previously visited Samsung's highly-secretive testing labs in South Korea, no photos were allowed to be taken on that visit, and can say for sure that this kind of testing isn't simply a reaction to Apple's problems. At the centre we saw devices being dropped, bashed, exposed to high temperatures for long periods of time, as well as being stressed in every imaginable way.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 will be available in the UK next week, and we'll bring you a full review as soon as possible. You can get all the details from our Samsung Galaxy Note hands on.
