Until now, Assassin's Creed Unity had only been set during the French Revolution in the eighteenth century, but Ubisoft's brand new Time Anomaly trailer for the upcoming PS4, Xbox One and PC game has revealed that Arno will be thrown into other time periods as well, including the Eiffel Tower in World War II.
According to the trailer, there will be times when the French Revolution simulation is prone to crashing, abruptly transporting our hero Arno into alternate time-zones. Whether this will be a special mission, DLC or a crucial part of the main story is currently unclear, but the trailer shows one particular mission set in the Metro underground system and the Eiffel Tower, complete with gattling guns, zeppelins and airborne gunners.
It won't be as easy as simply taking a list to the top of the Eiffel Tower, though, as it looks like the Nazis will be hot on Arno's tail. Instead, it looks like you'll have to climb up the tower's heavily-guarded exterior, dodging spotlights and incoming enemy fire as you scrabble up the iron girders.
This isn't the first time Assassin's Creed has featured two distinct settings, as previous entries in the series used modern day sections with protagonist Desmond Miles as a framing device for the main Assassin campaign in the past. It will, however, mark the first time you'll be able to play as the same Assassin in more than one historical setting.
Assassin's Creed Unity is due to launch on the 15th November 2014. Watch the full trailer below:
