We round up the best tech bargains from America's favourite shopping day - which is set to hit the UK in 2014 too

Any red blooded American with an eye for a bargain will know about Black Friday and Cyber Monday - combined, the days surrounding Thanksgiving are some of the busiest shopping days of the year. The tradition has slowly been making its way across the Atlantic, with more and more UK retailers joining in on the action, so we've decided it's time to sit up and take notice.

We've put together a list of the best tech bargains for anyone  after Christmas presents for friends and family, or who is just looking to stock up on gadgets in time for the holidays.

Amazon - Grab them before they're gone

As you might expect from a company that began in the US, Amazon takes Black Friday very seriously. There will be discounts across the board on a range of different products, with an entire week set aside for deals to drum up sales in the run up to Christmas.

Just like the company's Lightning deals, however, there will only be a certain amount of stock for each Black Friday deal - once the stock has run out, the deal is over. There's no telling how many units Amazon sets aside for each product, either, so you'll need to move fast in order to avoid missing out.

John Lewis - price matching and unbeatable warranties

The John Lewis website states "as part of our commitment to being Never Knowingly Undersold, whenever our competitors have a sale, we have a sale." That means it should price match any flash sales or offers from other retailers, but throw in its excellent five year guarantee to boot. If you're planning on buying a TV or other expensive gadget this year, John Lewis could be your best bet.

The company has started Black Friday savings early, too. You can already claim up to £300 cashback on Samsung 4K TVs if bought with another Samsung home entertainment product; the same offer applies to certain 1080p sets too if you aren't ready to invest in 4K.

Home appliances get a discount as well, with £150 cutback on Bosch products if bought before the 12th of December. Buy a washing machine and tumble dryer together and that jumps up to £200.

Currys - deals online and in store

So far, Currys has set up its 2014 Black Friday web hub but has yet to reveal any deals. There is an email form to fill in though; tap in your email address and the company will let you know as soon as any deals go live.

HotUKDeals - keep up with limited time offers and breaking deals

We do our best to keep this article up to date, but Black Friday deals don't hang around forever; if you want to make sure one doesn't slip through the cracks, HotUKDeals should help you keep track of all the bargains.

Apple - rumoured discounts on iPads

We're chalking this one up to a rumour right now, as there's currently no official word from Apple or a Black Friday holding page on the official website, but a HotUKDeals member has suggested the iPad Mini 3 will be getting a £100 discount - but only for the first 100 people. It seems pretty dubious Apple would enforce such tight restrictions, even on a new product like this, but if you're in the market for a tablet you should keep your fingers crossed it turns out to be true.
