Samsung's TouchWiz interface will have a massively reduced number of pre-installed apps on the Galaxy S6 according to latest rumours

The Samsung Galaxy S6 could have a vastly reduced number of pre-installed apps clogging up its TouchWiz interface when it launches later this year, as Samsung is allegedly aiming to remove nearly all bloatware from its latest flagship handset in favour of a purer version of Android and a simpler UI.

According to SamMobile, Samsung will be removing every single pre-downloaded app from the Galaxy S6 and cutting down on the amount of software the phone has straight out of the box. SamMobile was unsure about which apps would be getting the chop, as Samsung uses both standard apps as well as integrating some of them into the general settings menu, but it assumes that many of its own services such as S Voice and S Translator would be relegated to Samsung's app store for users to download at will rather than come pre-installed on the phone. However, it goes on to say that bigger, more important apps such as S Health would likely stay put on Samsung's new streamlined interface, as these are more major selling points for consumers.

Of course, simply removing apps from the main interface won't necessarily make the phone perform any faster. However, Business Korea has also reported that Samsung is optimising the Galaxy S6's software so it would be just as fast and slick as stock Android on the Nexus 6, so we could still potentially see a much quicker version of Android on the Galaxy S6 than previous S series smartphones.

Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy S6 at MWC in Barcelona in March, but with its recent financial report making no mention of its next flagship smartphone, there's a possibility we may not see it until later in the year at a dedicated event while Samsung chooses to focus on its brand new line-up of budget smartphones, the Galaxy A3 and Galaxy A5, which are due to launch in February.
