Acer has taken gaming chairs to an absurd new level with the Predator Thronos; a 1.5m tall structure that’s closer to a military flight simulator than a piece of home furniture.
Announced at IFA 2018, the Predator Thronos supports three 27in monitors with a massive overhead brace, and has in-built room for a gaming PC. It comes in a choice of dual-tone black with white or blue accents, and features “deep impact vibration” – where the chair will react to in-game collisions.

Acer describes the Predator Thronos as “a gamer’s cave”, and says the assembly is adjustable and ergonomic, with your own foot rest. You’ll probably need that comfort when the chair starts to shake and move – the company says it can also recline up to 140 degrees.

Acer Predator Thronos release date and price: How much does it cost?
Acer has yet to say when the Predator Thronos will go on sale, or how much it will cost. Ridiculous gaming chair aside, you’ll need to buy those monitors and the gaming PC to work with it.
At IFA 2018, Acer also unveiled its Predator XB273K gaming monitor, which will be available in Europe Q4 2018 for €1499 (£1357). On the slightly cheaper side is the Acer Nitro XV273K, available in Europe for €1049 (£949). Acer recommends its own tech, but displays and PCs from other manufacturers will fit as well.
Factor in three monitors, along with the PC, and you’ll need to start saving your pennies if you want to live in Acer’s “gamer’s cave”.
Acer Predator Thronos features: What does it do?
Acer’s gaming chair looks more at home in an arcade than a living room, but if you like to spend a lot of money on gaming equipment – this could be your zenith. The chair vibrates and reclines, and surrounds you with three monitors. That’s one way to have an immersive experience, for sure.

It looks gloriously over the top. The design makes it look like the cockpit of an alien spaceship. What’s not to love?
