The OnePlus 7 isn’t out yet, but we’re already gearing up for its eventual release. While it probably won’t even be the Chinese firm’s next smartphone – our money is on the OnePlus 6T – we’ve done a deep-dive into the latest rumours.
Read on to find out everything there is to know about next year’s OnePlus 7.
OnePlus 7: Everything you need to know
OnePlus 7 release date: When will we see the OnePlus 7?
OnePlus hasn’t revealed a concrete launch date for the OnePlus 7, and we can’t see it doing so for a while. Nonetheless, that doesn’t stop us making an educated guess as to when the smartphone will make its debut. We’re opting for mid-2019.

Given that the OnePlus 6 was announced in May 2018, we reckon May 2019 is a viable prediction for the launch of the OnePlus 7. That being said, both the OnePlus 5 and the OnePlus 3 bucked the annual May trend, and were released in the June of their respective years, meaning a May 2019 release date for the OnePlus 7 is not an inevitability.

OnePlus 7 price: How much will the OnePlus 7 cost?
Again, the price of the OnePlus 7 warrants some speculation. The OnePlus 7 debuted at $529 (£469), and given the pattern of previous phone launches we can expect a slight uptick in cost from this price point.
That being said, we don’t expect OnePlus to deviate too much from the mid-range smartphone pricing, unless the company has a mega overhaul in store. We’re anticipating something around the £500 range. Not cheap, but not Samsung Galaxy Note 9 levels either.

It’s worth noting that, if you’re a US-dweller, you might find the OnePlus 7 is only available on contract. This is something that OnePlus has tabled doing in the past, so you might not have to pay the whole cost up front if you reside in the US.
OnePlus 7 design: What will the OnePlus 7 look like?
We’re not expecting too drastic a deviation from the design of the OnePlus 6, whose sleek exterior, all-metal-and-glass composition and large display made it an aesthetically pleasing handset.
Meanwhile, we’re also expecting the OnePlus 7 to continue on its predecessor’s water resistance. While the OnePlus 6 is not fully immersive – it’s not IP-rated for dust or water-resistance – the company assures that it is “water-resistant for everyday use”. We’re hoping the OnePlus 7 will go one step further and turn the water-resistance up a notch.

OnePlus 7 features and specs: What will the OnePlus 7 have to offer?
5G
Perhaps the most prominent rumour in circulation is that the OnePlus 7 will be amongst the first 5G phones to launch next year. 5G – the umbrella term for the fifth generation of mobile networks – will be unprecedentedly nippy, with speeds recorded up to twenty times faster than current 4G.

OnePlus hasn’t confirmed this yet. It might be the case that they debut 5G support in the OnePlus 7T. Nevertheless, it hasn’t been ruled out, and would make a stellar update over the incumbent OnePlus 6.
Gorilla Glass 5
Another feature we reckon will make an appearance in the OnePlus 7 is Gorilla Glass 5, the sturdy material packed into the OnePlus 6. It gave the handset an extra layer of protection from the all-too-inevitable smartphone tumble.
A QHD screen
We’ve also got our fingers crossed that the OnePlus 7 debuts with a Quad High Definition (QHD) screen, marking a notable upgrade from its predecessors. The QHD screen upgrade is long overdue, particularly now screens are getting bigger. Again, one to watch.
Wireless charging
Again, this is something we were hoping to see on the OnePlus 6, and were left baffled as to why it wasn’t incorporated, especially since it has a glass back. Nevertheless, we’re holding out hope that the OnePlus 7 debuts the tech, particularly if it follows suit on the all-glass-and-metal design.
We will be updating this page regularly as new details about the OnePlus 7 emerge, so be sure to check back in.
