Motorola confirms that its entire back catalogue of Moto phones will be receiving an upgrade to Android Lollipop

We already knew that Motorola's new Moto G and Moto X smartphones would be receiving an upgrade to Android Lollipop, but Motorola has just announced that it will be bringing Google's latest mobile operating system to its entire range of old and new Moto devices. This includes the first generation Moto G (including the 4G version), first generation Moto X, and Moto E.

There's currently no word on when each device will be receiving the upgrade, but Motorola has asked users to keep an eye on its upgrade support page for all the latest details. Google's Steve Horowitz, senior vice president of Software Engineering also confirmed that Android Lollipop will be coming to the Droid Ultra, Droid Maxx and Droid Mini in a blog post on Motorola's official Blogspot.

Motorola also announced tonight that it will be making the new Google Nexus 6 handset, a large 6in phablet that looks remarkably similar to the new Moto X. The phone will have a massive 2,560x1,440 resolution, a 13-megapixel camera with optical image stabilisation, dual front-facing stereo speakers and a huge 3,220mAh battery. It will also be powered by a 2.7GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor - the same processor that's in the Samsung Galaxy Note 4.

The Nexus 6 will be available to pre-order from the Google Play Store in late October and through Motorola and selected carrier partners in November. It will be available in two colours (midnight blue and cloud white) and will come with either 32GB or 64GB of storage.
